Winter is long here in Wisconsin, and usually a few weeks before we can actually force some beautiful flowering Spring branches, we are chomping at the bit to have something growing and alive.
Grabbing some fallen branches after a blustery storm, we cut simple flower like shapes, from some old wallpaper. Any paper will work, depending on how you would like the flowers to look. A stiffer paper will result in a more robust bloom, suitable for apple or cherry blossoms. For forsythia branches, a lighter weight paper is great, as
After cutting the simple, floral shapes we glued them into the crux of the branches to allow the hot glue to have more surface to which to adhere. You can keep going until your branches are as full and lush as you like.
Then the only thing left to do is to tuck the branches into a vintage, green fluted vase in our entry. We have a little impromptu bar, made from a vintage suitcase, where guests can help themselves. The faux, flowering branches add a soft organic element, and usher in a little Spring.
